Yankees add RHP Yerry de los Santos, DFA RHP Carlos Carrasco

The New York Yankees recalled right-hander Yerry de los Santos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, while right-hander Carlos Carrasco was designated for assignment.
Infielder DJ LeMahieu, who has not played a major league game this season because of a left calf strain, had his rehab assignment shifted from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A. Right-hander Scott Effross is set to begin a rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League.
Carrasco, 38, was 2-2 with a 5.91 ERA in eight appearances (six starts) for the Yankees this season. A veteran of 16 major league seasons, Carrasco is 112-105 with a 4.18 ERA in 332 appearances (283 starts).
In one appearance with the Yankees earlier this season, de los Santos went two scoreless innings. He was 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA in 10 relief appearances at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
LeMahieu, who was injured in spring training, is close to starting his seventh season with the Yankees. He also played seven seasons with the Colorado Rockies and is a lifetime .289 hitter with 124 home runs and 651 RBIs. He is a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove Award winner.
Effross, 31, was placed on the IL before the start of the season with a hamstring strain. In 77 appearances (one start) over three seasons with the Chicago Cubs (2021-22) and Yankees (2022, 2024), he is 3-5 with a 2.89 ERA.
