(Reuters) - Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been ruled out for at least two weeks with a muscle strain, the WNBA team said on Monday.

The Iowa graduate, who is in her second professional season following an impressive rookie campaign, averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game over last season.

"Caitlin Clark has suffered a left quadriceps strain and will be out for at least two weeks. Further updates will be provided as available following re-evaluation," the team said in a statement.

Clark's injury is a blow to the Fever who have started the new season with a win and a loss and next face the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.

Clark broke the NCAA scoring record during her college career, attracting high television ratings, and the guard's popularity shows no sign of waning, as an exhibition against Brazil’s national team earlier this month drew an average audience of 1.3 million viewers.
